You might have read it in my last newsletter, (if you want to receive my newsletter once a month you can sign up down below) this month one of my goals was to make the time to make nice breakfasts. I wanted to really consciously make something nice for me, start the day on a good note.
To be transparent, at the moment that is quite easy for me as i am sort of in between life phases. I am living at home, with my parents, i am done with school and don’t work at the moment. So, i actually have a lot of time to set myself such goals. And on days where i did have to be somewhere i usually didn’t take the time.
Just aa a little disclaimer before we now get into all the good stuff:
What Did I Eat
I think i had something sweet every morning. I don’t know about you, but i always have preferred a sweet breakfast over a savoury one.
I always tried to eat without my phone, and by that i mean that i didn’t scroll on Instagram while eating. Instead, i would either just listened to the birds, or to music or read my book.
I’m not going to write down every meal i had, that would definitely be too much. But some of my favourites were:
a smoothie bowl with banana, raspberries, red currants, oat milk and mint
vanilla yoghurt topped with oats, chia seeds and raspberries, freshly picked from the garden, with fresh pressed orange juice
having breakfast with my grandma. The food wasn’t very special, but i was in good company
cinnamon rolls, a whole grapefruit and chai latte
french toast sandwich with chocolate in between the bread
And as i said, there were also days i just ate a bowl of cereal or a slice of bread. Which is also fine, i didn’t beat myself up for it, that’s just life.
What Did I Notice
I started into the day real slow and calm.
It was like a form of self-care. It was usually just me, alone quite often on the deck, sitting on the hollywood swing, only the birds keeping me company. I loved it.
The Bottom Line
I totally recommend doing this, if you have the time or maybe if you have the right mindset. To be honest if i had more regular schedule, work for example, i think i wouldn’t have made the time, maybe only on weekends.
I would love to keep it up but i know myself and i need my sleep, so i would always choose an extra 15 minutes of sleep over a nice breakfast. But for off days or on the weekends i definitely want to make this a habit.
